Charleston’s Urban Battlefield: Locating the 1780 Revolutionary War Siege Lines

Presented by Carl Borick, Director of The Charleston Museum

Before the city, there was a battlefield.  Join us for an illustrated lecture by Carl Borick, author of Relieve Us of This Burthen: American Prisoners of War in the Revolutionary South, 1780–1782 and A Gallant Defense: The Siege of Charleston, 1780.  Carl has been tracking down the Revolutionary War siege lines for many years now, utilizing historical accounts, archival research, archaeology and map overlays.  Using these tools, he will paint a picture of a very different landscape of Charleston in the late 18th century.

We offer this educational lecture free-of-charge to current Friends of Historic Charleston Foundation's Donor program. We ask others to consider making a donation of $5 per person and register in the General Public category. Thank you.
