May is Preservation Month!

This special tour is designed to teach you about the art and science of preservation.

Please join Historic Charleston Foundation's Properties Manager, Justin Schwebler, as he guides you through the Aiken-Rhett House Museum for a behind-the-scenes, in-depth tour of the preservation projects and efforts at this unique, preserved-as-found house museum. This tour will show how the house’s conditions are monitored, how preservation methods are performed, and what it means to maintain a preserved-as-found house. (Hint: it is not putting down mothballs and walking away!). While some historical interpretation of the house will be included, it will not be the main focus of this specific tour.

Additionally, your ticket to this tour includes general admission to enjoy the audio tour afterwards so you can hear more about the broader history of the house.

This tour begins before the house museum opens to the public. Light refreshments will be included. Tickets required.
