Admission: Aiken-Rhett House Museum

The Aiken-Rhett House (c. 1820), located at 48 Elizabeth Street, is open 7 days a week from 10 am to 5 pm.

You may visit anytime within those hours as we do not have reserved starting times. However, we do ask that you plan to arrive and start your tour before 4:15 pm to allow enough time before the museum closes at 5 pm.

For groups of 12 or more, please call the house manager to reserve a tour. Discounts apply.

Visitors who are interested in visiting both museum houses (Nathaniel Russell and Aiken-Rhett) can save by purchasing a combination ticket. Tickets are redeemable for six months from purchase date. Combo tickets to both houses do not need to be used on the same day. Consider visiting both museums to experience the unique and different preservation methods at work in each museum.

Morning History Walks

 

MORNING HISTORY WALKS

Led by Charleston's most experienced guides, these two-hour walking tours of the Old & Historic District provide the perfect background for the afternoon house and garden tours. No private sites or interiors are included on these walking tours.

IMPORTANT TO KNOW:

1. Check-in begins at 9:15 am at 108 Meeting Street. Tour begins promptly at 9:30 am.

2. Tours go on rain or shine. Please be prepared if inclement weather is forecasted.

3. Reservations are required.

4. A City of Charleston ordinance requires tickets for children under the age of six.

5. Comfortable, flat-soled walking shoes are highly recommended.

6. We recommend you bring a water bottle.

Festival Tours

IMPORTANT INFORMATION TO KNOW ABOUT THE TOURS:

1. Tours go on rain or shine. Prepare for inclement weather if forecasted.

2. We recommend you wear comfortable, flat-soled shoes, bring a capped water bottle, and plan to "travel lightly."

3. In accordance with South Carolina state law, photography is not permitted on private property.

4. Pets are not permitted on tour.

5. Well-supervised children ages six and older are welcomed on the tours if tickets are purchased for them. Because of the risk to private property and collections, strollers, car seats, backpacks, or children strapped in any manner to an adult are not permitted in the private residences on tour.

6. * Ticketholders for TOUR events will need to pick up credentials on or after Monday, March 13, 2023 at the Festival ticket office located inside Shop Historic Charleston, 108 Meeting Street. Credentials for all TOURS will be available beginning March 13th. TOUR credentials are not mailed and must be picked up in person at 108 Meeting Street.

(*Architectural and Garden Splendor Tour ticketholders will receive an email 10-14 days prior to the tour with instructions about where to meet for the tour.)

7. Please read and save your order confirmation you will receive via email once your order is completed. Your confirmation will provide details for picking up your TOUR credentials and links to valuable "Know Before You Go" information. You will need to present your order confirmation as proof of purchase to pick up credentials.

Food for Thought Luncheon Lectures

 

Food for Thought Luncheon Lecture Series:
The Food for Thought Luncheon Lectures take place in an informal setting at the historic Captain James Missroon House, c. 1808, home of Historic Charleston Foundation's headquarters. Join us atop Charleston’s High Battery and enjoy a commanding view of the Charleston Harbor and the antebellum mansions along East Battery. 

Participants will enjoy a casual light lunch of salads and sandwiches.

There is limited off-site parking.

  • Advance purchase is required.
  • $55 per person
  • A 3% processing fee will be added to the purchase of these tickets upon checkout.
