BEHIND THE SCENES OF MIDDLETON PLACE:  Historic Charleston Foundation’s Director of Museums, Tracey Todd, will host an intimate behind the scenes tour of Middleton Place National Historic Landmark.

Before joining HCF, Tracey had a thirty-three year career with Middleton Place so he has many favorite spots within the gardens and stories to share about the history of the Middletons. For example, in the gardens he’ll discuss the origins of America's oldest camellias and in the house museum he’ll show some important collection items that aren’t typically kept on display. Tracey will also discuss historic agriculture and heritage livestock breeds during a walk through the stable yards. In Eliza’s house, a circa 1870 freedman’s dwelling, he will share his experiences interpreting the lives of hundreds of enslaved people who lived and worked at Middleton Place through the centuries.

Certainly, the experience will be highlighted by the comradery and delicious Lowcountry lunch cuisine that will await the group in Middleton Place restaurant.

Limited availability.

Historic Charleston Foundation advocates for a future for Charleston that honors and protects its people, places, culture, and community.

As the Foundation’s largest annual fundraiser, the net proceeds from ticket sales and donations from patrons of The Charleston Festival provide HCF with critical resources needed to effectively protect one of our nation’s most treasured historic places. This support allows us to use our resources where and when they are most needed to affect successful outcomes against the challenges facing the Charleston community and to provide important educational opportunities for students of all ages. Thank you for your support!
