What does "preserved as found" mean in preservation terms?

Join us for a PreserVISIONists-only happy hour and behind-the-scenes tour of the “preserved-as-found" Aiken Rhett House at 48 Elizabeth Street. The Aiken-Rhett House Museum is a hauntingly beautiful time capsule of past lives and moments in history.

PreserVISIONists are invited to dive a bit deeper with Historic Charleston Foundation's Properties Manager, Justin Schwebler, for an in-depth look at current preservation projects in the house. You will see how the house’s conditions are monitored, how preservation methods are performed, and what it means to maintain a preserved-as-found house. Justin will also take guests into areas of the property not generally open to the public.

Space is limited so please register early. If you register and then find you are unable to attend, please let us know so that room may be made for those on the waiting list.
